I wanted to share this simple yet super delicious dessert! We were on our no spend month but I had a really bad sweet tooth craving. I had a box of white chocolate pudding that I had been holding on to and never used. I began to think of what I might could possibly make. Well, I knew I had some graham crackers and some chocolate syrup…s’mores! But I was still missing one ingredient-marshmallows.
We weren’t allowed to buy anything other than what we deemed necessities that wouldn’t last a whole month (eggs, milk, bread, etc.) and marshmallows was definitely not on the list. So I cheated…sorta. I called my friend who was coming over and asked if she would stop and pick up some mini marshmallows. Of course, when I explained why I needed them, she readily agreed!
Now, the moment you’ve been waiting for, the process.
1. Find a bowl or pan that you want to use. I don’t have a trifle bowl so this 8x8 pan had to do. Then lay out the graham crackers onto the bottom.
2. Prepare (ahead of time to let sit) the pudding mix. I ended up using a small white chocolate and a large regular chocolate. I would probably mix the two again because it gave a nice flavor, but instead of a small and large, I would probably use two smalls. There was a bunch of extra pudding left that wasn’t used. If you’re not making a bunch, you could probably use two small as well. There’s not really a set amount anyway. Just do whatever feels good for you!
3. Next, sprinkle the marshmallows on top of the pudding. Easy enough right?
4. This step is my favorite and I assure you, the whole family will want to get in on this! We took a small butane torch and scorch the tops of the marshmallows to give it that roasted over the fire taste. It’s not quite as good as the real thing but it’s pretty tasty in this context. If you don’t have a butane torch lying around, you can get one here.
5. Then just repeat however many times it takes to reach the top of your container. Then drizzle with chocolate syrup. This is really good when just made, but is also super tasty after being in the fridge.
So just for your entertainment, I wanted to share the process we went through this to make it the first time. Once my friend arrived with the pudding, I proceeded to make it and got all the way to putting the marshmallows on the first layer. It was then we realized we had no way to roast them. We looked for the small hand held torch we used to have and at first, couldn’t find it. I got my husband and son involved and we finally found it…only to find out that it didn’t work. So them being the handy men they are, they tried to fix it.
Meanwhile, me and my friend ran to Wal-mart to try to find another one. 30 minutes later, we return home with a new one. My husband, not explaining to me that the butane doesn’t come standard with new torches, told me that it also needs butane. So…I sent him back to get some! He returned about 15 minutes later and we got to work finishing it up.
I would suggest that you make sure you have everything you might need in order to make this if you want this to be a quick make dessert. :) I hope you enjoy!! Leave a comment and let me know how it was for you.
