Mmm Mmm Cream

Sorry I haven’t been on in a few days. We’ve been crazy busy with stuff going on between trying to get a house and find our daughter a new car. It’s been a mad house for sure it seems like.

Today is Hump-Day Hobbies and I decided to talk about this "Mmm Mmm Sexy Cream" that I made today since I really wasn’t sure which other day it would make sense on. The other day I was looking to make a cream or lotion that both smelled good but would also, you know, get the motor running. I turned to my trusty essential oils and some other ingredients I had on hand to whip something up.

I use Young Living oils because I trust their purity more so than others I have researched. I don’t really feel like debating that now--a topic for another day. To set out on my quest, I began by researching benefits and uses for different oils. I already knew, for instance, that Ylang ylang would help boost the libido because I’ve used it directly by rubbing it on my inner thighs. So before I disclose how to make the cream, here are the oils and other ingredients used and how they help make this so effective.

I chose 4 different oils from Young Living’s collection.

1. Acceptance- This is a blend of several different oils such as Geranium, Bergamot, Frankincense, Grapefruit, Tangerine, Spearmint, Lemon, Jasmine, Ylang ylang, and Rose just to name a few. Several of these were found to be effective for different aspects that would um…aid the journey ahead.

Bergamot helps boost energy. Spearmint helps with relaxation (to enjoy it). Geranium, Bergamot, Jasmine, and Rose all can promote euphoria. Lemon can help focus. Frankincense, Grapefruit, Jasmine, and Lemon all can be great performance enhancers. Ylang ylang, Jasmine, and Rose can help evoke feelings of seduction or sensuality. Any citrus scent such as Tangerine, Grapefruit, or Lemon can cause stimulation or little tinglies on the skin.

2. Patchouli- This is both good for euphoria and sensuality.

3. Orange- Helps with stimulation

4. Ylang ylang- As mentioned before, but I just love the scent and wanted to add more. :)

As an added bonus, most of these oils also are great for the skin and help moisturize and improve the look and feel of the skin. In addition, I used coconut oil and Shea butter as my base which helps this cream to both rub in quickly and last a while. The coconut oil will help this to practically melt in your hand so you’ll need to work fast (see photo below).

However, I do have one word of caution! Several of these oils are also photosensitive and exposure to the sun after application could cause the skin to burn worse. I would suggest applying this before bed, after dark, or if you do not intend to be outdoors for some time afterwards. But hey, you do what you want! It’s your life girl--live it!

Now the moment you’ve all been waiting for--the recipe.

-1/4 c. Coconut oil (solid at room temp kind)

-1/4 c. Shea butter (mine was slightly soft so it was easier to stir otherwise you may have to heat a little to soften up)

-4 drops Acceptance

-2 drops Patchouli

-3 drops Ylang ylang

-3 drops Orange

Then I just stirred it all together. It was a little soft after stirring. If you would like to firm it up, I would suggest adding less coconut oil or place in the fridge for a few minutes before use. It also does not make a whole lot so if you want more, just double the recipe. Shea butter also whips really well. I thought about next time trying to chill it for 10-15 minutes and then whip with a mixer or blender attachment. Another thing I’m going to play around with is more or less coconut oil and Shea butter to see what happens. Feel free to mix and create your own scents. I just used these for the purpose of the cream, but if you just want a great smelling moisturizer, pick your favorite oils to use. I would love to hear about them!
